Food and drink play an unforgettable role in celebrations across the globe, weaving their way into birthdays, anniversaries, cultural festivals and everything in between. Whatever the occasion, there’s usually something delicious at the centre of it all. It set me off thinking about all the wonderful food and drink dates sprinkled throughout the calendar year that we should absolutely be marking, and, naturally, the national food holidays that honour them.
Once that idea took hold, I couldn’t resist putting together a collection of some of my favourite food holidays and national days. I’ve gathered them here for you, so you can map out your own tasty celebrations too! I’ve also added those special moments when sharing a meal feels especially meaningful: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, Diwali and Thanksgiving to name a few. After all, cooking and sharing food is exactly what my little space on the interweb is all about. - What are food celebration days? Simply put, these are days created by foodies and food lovers worldwide to jointly share the joys of different foods! Whether it’s baking or cooking, or just indulging, there’s sure to be something for everyone somewhere in these food holidays!
- What is World Baking Day 2026? A day to celebrate all things baking! Whether you are a “pizza out of a box” kinda baker, an expert French pâtissier/pâtissière or anything in between, today is the day to celebrate your love of baking and all things baked!
- How can I celebrate these food days? That’s entirely up to you! Many people don’t actually know most of these food holidays even exist, so you’re ahead of the crowd there! You could try cooking/baking a themed dish, trying a recipe with new ingredients (to you) or even getting together with some friends to share together!
