Snickers Fudge Recipe

Right friends, I have a real treat for you today! If you’re a fan of snickers bars (who isn’t?) you are going to absolutely LOVE this one! My snickers fudge recipe is a wonderfully indulgent dessert, and crazy easy to make! It has a rich, creamy no-cook chocolate fudge base (yum!), a layer of gooey caramel-coated salted peanuts (double yum!), and finished off with a smooth milk chocolate top layer (I just died and went to heaven!). It’s the kind of thing you’ll find yourself cutting “just one more sliver” of every time you pass the kitchen. Super easy to make, brilliant for gifting or just because, and frankly rather dangerous to have in the house: you have been warned!

Why you’ll love this insanely easy snickers fudge recipe

  • Uses just a handful of ingredients. Using just a couple of ingredients in each of the layers, this candy bar fudge snickers really is so much easier to make than it looks!
  • Quick to make. The hands-on time is really very little! Most of the work for these snickers fudge bars is leaving it to set in the fridge.
  • No thermometer, no faff. Since this is a quick fudge recipe, there is no need for extra equipment or fuss with constant stirring or temperature reading or looking for soft ball stage. This recipe is so beautifully simple, anyone will nail it with minimal effort.
  • Iconic Snickers flavour in every bite. Chocolate, caramel and peanuts all topped with milk chocolate. Make this snickers fudge without snickers bar and watch people’s expressions of disbelief when you tell them!
  • A crowd-pleasing dessert. Every time. Bring out this chocolate caramel peanut fudge at any occasion and it will not be around for long. I can almost guarantee someone will ask you for this recipe, it’s really that good!
  • Perfect for gifting. If you don’t want to take to a gathering, make these for a special event or even Christmas, present in a pretty gift box or tin and wrap with ribbon. Hey presto, you have a thoughtful (and delicious!) homemade gift that is seriously impressive!

Ingredients for snickers fudge

  • Dark chocolate: forms the body of the fudge. Use your favourite dark chocolate for extra deliciousness.
  • Condensed milk: for sweetness, creaminess and all round yumminess! I always use the full fat version, not the lighter one for any quick fudge recipe.
  • Soft caramels: for ease in this recipe I have chosen to use soft caramels (the chewy candy/sweet that is individually wrapped) rather than making my own caramel. If you wish to make your own, please go ahead! I wanted to make and share a recipe that was really really easy, and this fits the bill perfectly.
  • Salted peanuts: I actually used salted peanuts accidentally once (as that’s all I had in!), but I found it worked so well to balance out all the sweetness, that this is all I now use. I promise the saltiness will not overwhelm the flavours.
  • Milk chocolate: to top the caramel peanut layer on this easy snickers fudge before chilling to set.

What equipment do I need to make homemade snickers fudge?

  • Baking tin*: to make and set the snickers fudge in.
  • Parchment paper: for lining the tin. This helps prevent sticking and
  • Digital kitchen scales*: I provide all my measurements in cups too, however I would encourage all bakers to weigh out ingredients when baking. A set of digital kitchen scales is so useful and totally an essential baking tool for me.
  • Mixing bowl*: to combine the ingredients in before assembling the snickers fudge recipe layers in the tin.
  • Spatula*: for mixing ingredients together and to transfer the mixture into the tin.

How to make homemade snickers fudge

This easy peasy fudge comes together in just a few minutes, then is left to chill before cutting into squares. First make the chocolate fudge and smooth into the tin, then assemble the caramel peanut layer before topping with melted chocolate. Then simply leave to set before cutting into squares and enjoy!

Ingredients required: chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, salted peanuts and caramel sweets. Recipe by movers and bakers

Step 1: Line an 8″ x 8″ tin with parchment paper and set aside whilst making the fudge.

Step 2: Melt the condensed milk and dark chocolate together either in a saucepan on the hob or in short bursts in the microwave until melted. Stir until smooth, then transfer to the prepared tin, spreading out evenly and levelling the top. Place in the fridge whilst preparing the caramel layer.

Step 3: In a clean bowl or saucepan, melt the caramels down with 1.5 tbsp water until smooth. Tip in the peanuts and fold together to evenly coat the nuts.

Step 4: Remove the tin from the fridge and place blobs of the peanut caramel on top of the fudge. Spread out into an even layer, pushing into the corners, then level the top. Return the tin to the fridge.

Step 5: In a small microwave safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate in short bursts until smooth. Remove the tin from the fridge and pour the melted chocolate over the caramel peanut layer. Spread out evenly, then shake the tin a little to smooth out the top of the chocolate. Chill again to set for a few hours or ideally overnight. Once set, cut into squares and serve. Enjoy!

How do I line my tin?

There are several ways to line the tin for making this fudge. The simplest way is to cut two strips of parchment paper slightly smaller than the width of the tin and place them in a cross shape within the tin, so you have an overhang over all four sides. Make sure to fold along the inside bottom and side edges so you get nice clean lines when the fudge is pushed in.

Can I use evaporated milk instead of condensed milk in this fudge recipe?

No, unfortunately evaporated milk cannot be substituted for condensed milk when making a fudge recipe as it is a completely different ingredient. There is no ingredient swap for condensed milk in quick fudge recipes.

Help my fudge didn’t set!

This fudge is softer than most other quick fudge recipes, so it is essential to use dark chocolate when making this to help it not be too soft to cut and handle.

How to store leftover fudge

I refrigerate the fudge as part of helping it set and also to make it easier to cut. Once cut, I would definitely store in the fridge to ensure it remains at its best.

How long does fudge last in the fridge?

I would recommend consuming this fudge within 5-7 days of making it as the caramel layer can start to ooze if left for longer.

Tips for making snickers fudge

  • Always use good quality ingredients when making fudge. Since there are so few ingredients used, this really will make a big difference.
  • You can absolutely use milk chocolate when making the fudge too, rather than dark chocolate. However, because of the milk content in dark vs milk chocolate, the fudge does set firmer when using dark. This will make it easier to cut and serve, so I would definitely recommend sticking with dark.
  • I chose to make this recipe extra easy by using soft caramels for the peanut caramel layer. However, if you wanted to make your own homemade caramel for this recipe, feel free!
  • Using salted peanuts, for me, balances out the sweetness of the fudge and caramel
  • Allow the snickers fudge recipes to chill for at least 3-4 hours in order for it to firm up. I prefer to leave it overnight before cutting into squares.
